The porous school creates a Collaborative Social Academic Eco-System
The core unit of the design is the greenhouse, an experiential learning hub that brings together students, teachers and experts in communal academic workshops and promotes creativity, diversity, experimentation and growth.
The space of the greenhouse creates the opportunity for new teaching methodologies. The old-fashioned frontal and top-down model of disseminating knowledge is replaced with a network-based bottom-up way of learning. This model brings students to be more active, independent, inquisitive and socially involved.
The greenhouses were positioned adjacent to each other with the intention of promoting cross-pollination between the different worlds of knowledge. Through spontaneous encounters between the students and teachers, a social academic eco-system is formed and the school community is strengthened.
